Los Angeles Abrasion Machine

Tests for resistance to abrasion in crushed rock, slag, crushed and uncrushed gravel, using Los Angeles testing method .The Los Angeles Abrasion test is widely used as an indicator of relative quality of aggregates. Test measures degradation of standard grading of aggregates when subjected to abrasion and impact, in a rotating steel drum containing an abrasive charge of steel balls. Up to twelve balls are used, depending on gradation of test sample.

Micro-Deval Apparatus

The increasingly popular Micro-Deval test measures abrasion resistance and durability of mineral aggregates. An aggregate sample is placed in a sealed stainless steel jar with an abrasive charge of up to 5,000g of 9.5mm diameter stainless steel balls and water, and then rotated at 100rpm for two hours. Aggregate quality is determined by percentage loss in gradation results at completion. Smaller equipment size, lower sample quantities and a simpler procedure make the method easier and less costly to perform than traditional methods.

Falling Sand Abrasion Tester

The Falling sand test determines the abrasion resistance of coatings, such as paint, varnish, lacquer and related products. The test panel is enclosed in a receptacle with a window. Ottawa natural silica sand is considered the standard use in this test because of its known characteristics.

Slake Durability Apparatus

The Slake Durability Apparatus is used to determine the durability of rocks and the probable amount of deterioration of weak rocks, over a period of time, after simulated exposure to nature's continual wetting and drying cycles. The apparatus consists of a base-mounted motor drive unit with two mesh drums and two water tanks with quick-release drive assemblies. The drums rotate at a speed of 20 revolutions per minute. Options include two extra drums and tanks for running up to four tests simultaneously.
